What to take to Baikal with you? What things and medicines? In general, what to take to Lake Baikal so as not to spoil the rest and remain satisfied? I decided to consider all these questions on the eve of the holidays and a huge number of questions asked about the rest on the coast of the Siberian lake.

But, to begin with, I will briefly and briefly tell you the essence of the main task when preparing for vacation, it is important to understand that the weather on Lake Baikal is very capricious and the climate does not allow you to relax even in the sun, so this will be the most important factor on which you should rely on when collecting. I'll start with the weather near Lake Baikal.

What things to take to Baikal and the weather

Baikal is very capricious even in summer, for example, on Olkhon Island, when it rains in summer, you can safely wear a down jacket and walk under an umbrella, but when the sun comes out, we put on swimwear and sunbathe. In more detail about the weather on Lake Baikal, I wrote a whole article, I recommend it to those who go to the lake for the first time and have never encountered Siberian nature.

We will assume that you are driving towards Olkhon and the Maloye More, although the second option is not very capricious, since most of the coastline closes the mountains from the wind, but Olkhon is blown through very well, so first of all we take a warm jacket, preferably water-repellent. For tourists who are especially prone to illness, I recommend taking a light hat and a woolen jacket (you can use a fleece one), which you will definitely need in the evening.

As for tourists who decide to rest on Baikal as savages, I advise you to take an additional set of things that you need after the rain, there are times when the wind just tears off the tent and while you are putting it up, it is very easy to get completely wet.

For the ‘savages’, the first step is to ensure that your car is working properly. My advice to you, we take a few spare wheels at least, I will not talk about the repair kit, all the necessary kit should accompany you anywhere. As for the list of things, I recently wrote an article called 'list of things at sea'. I understand that Baikal is far from the sea, but the main part of the list will be very useful to you, especially medications, about which everything is described in detail in the article.

A shovel, matches, an ax, a knife, a liquid for ignition and some firewood should also be present first of all when collecting to Lake Baikal. As for the nightlife near the coast, for this you need a sleeping bag, tent, mattress, if you do not have them yet, then read the articles:

  • How to choose a sleeping bag
  • How to choose a tent
  • At the expense of the mattress, we go to the Chinese market and buy it for 500 rubles

How much money to take for Baikal and what are the prices here?

If we proceed from the fact that you are going to have a rest by car, then the first thing to mention is gasoline, at the moment the price of gasoline is 35r.10kop. How long to go to Lake Baikal and how to get there, I have already described in the previous article, where all the ways of travel to the place of rest are described. I advise you to take at least 700 rubles for one day per person, based on the fact that you are going a savage. If you decide to book a hotel on Lake Baikal, then we add more from 1000 rubles per day, a total of 1700 rubles per day of stay. If you do not know where to stay at Baikal or on Olkhon and which hotel to choose, then I advise you to read the article ‘Recommended Olkhon tourist centers’

What is included in the price for one day of stay at the shores of Lake Baikal per person:

  • Food in a cafe (breakfast 200 rubles, lunch 250 rubles, dinner 250 rubles)
  • Hotel accommodation from 600 rubles on the Small Sea and from 800 rubles on Olkhon
  • Excursions from 500 to 1800 rubles per person

How much money to take and what are the prices here, I have already described in my article entitled ‘prices at Baikal in the summer’, in this article you will find out what prices should be based on in shops and cafes, learn about the cost of travel and much more. If you decide to leave in the direction of Peschanaya Bay, then everything has already been written about all prices in Peschanaya Bay.

What else to take to Baikal?

We take a cap and glasses from the sun. We put on such shoes on our feet that will give you comfort in movement, I will tell you a little secret, there are no roads on Lake Baikal, so here you will need sneakers or ordinary slates as the last thing, we take sneakers or well-ventilated footwear based on mountain boots. For those who like to climb the mountains, it is worth noting that the mountains are very slippery, which means that the sole of the boots must be appropriate.

What to take to Lake Baikal in winter? Everything that will warm your soul and body! We take additional jackets and waterproof clothing, since most areas of Lake Baikal contain loose and wet snow, in which shoes get wet very quickly. If you take certain areas, such as Olkhon or the village of Kultuk, there is little snow here in winter and the winds are constantly blowing, which means that the first thing you need to do is take a jacket with a hood and non-slip boots.

Well, the last thing you can take to Baikal is a camera and a thermos, if you still don't have these things, then personally from my experience I wrote two very useful articles:

  • How to choose the right camera

As you already understood, I ended up with a generalized article, which has many links to questions of interest to you, if you read each separate article separately, you can add up a complete picture of this issue 'What to take to Baikal', if you have any questions, then we write comments, I will definitely answer, and of course I will be glad if you share the article on social networks by clicking on the icon below.
