Resort experience

Sarpi is a small village near the border point between Georgia and Turkey, 18 km from Batumi. The seaside resort is located along the road and on the green hills, and is home to just over 800 people. The Georgian side is decorated with the Church of St. Andrew, the Turkish side is decorated with a mosque with a minaret.

It is always hectic near the border. Cars and trucks with goods pass through the checkpoints in both directions. Exchange offices, a small market, shops and an attractive casino for Turks operate nearby. At the northern end of the village and on the slopes of the mountains - peace and quiet.

See how tourists say about Sarpi:

maltis: "Here is the cleanest sea not only close to Batumi, but also on the entire Black Sea coast of Georgia! There is a border point of passage and transition to neighboring Turkey. The snow-white futuristic border construction can be seen from afar on both sides of the border."

Anastasia: "In Sarpi, in principle, there are no hotels with direct access to the sea. Although the entire village can be walked in 5 minutes, there is much more people and bustle closer to the border."

What sea and beaches

The beach in Sarpi is pebbly, it is more convenient to swim in special shoes. Entry into the water is shallow, and the depth begins 3-5 m from the shore.

The coastal current comes from Turkey. Once, while swimming in Sarpi, we saw a whole school of small jellyfish carrying from the Turkish side. A border boat is constantly on duty 100 m from the coast.

In the northern part of the beach, local boys like to jump into the water from large stones. Changing rooms with showers are located on the shore every 100-200 m, and sun loungers are rented. Unfortunately there are no toilets on the beach. The only paid toilet is located behind the shopping arcade, next to the border point.

Georgians sell fresh baked goods, boiled corn, figs, ripe berries and sliced watermelons to vacationers. During the season, Sarpi is always crowded, because, in addition to tourists, residents of Batumi and neighboring villages come here to swim.

Anastasia: "The sea is very clean, it is a pleasure to swim, sometimes there is garbage in the sea, but after half an hour everything is carried away, and the sea is clean again. We go here from Batumi."

Another entertainment of a small Georgian resort is Turkey. Many vacationers cross the border several times during their vacation to sit in authentic Turkish cafes and buy cheap clothes.

Natasha: "The waterfall is very small and low, but it looks impressive. Next to it is a description engraved on a stone slab. Below is a small font with water. There is a monument in honor of the Apostle and disciple of Jesus Christ - St. Andrew the First-Called, who came to Georgia to preach Christianity. The monument is very unusual, made in an unusual style. "

Pires777: "Most of all I liked Koba, who sells in a tent next to the waterfall. This man expressed all the hospitality of Georgians. He gave us drink, fed us, uttered toasts, made us laugh a little. We took a bottle of cognac and a liter of wine. I would go there again. just because of him. "

Vacation with children

Parents with children speak differently about the Georgian resort of Sarpi. Everyone likes the clear sea, but not everyone is happy with the hustle and bustle near the Georgian-Turkish border. In addition to beach recreation, there is no entertainment for children. For everything interesting you have to go to Batumi.
